The smaller 19.2kWh battery pack promises a range of 250km on a single charge whereas the 24kWh battery pack offers a claimed range of 315km as per the Modified Indian Test Cycle (MIDC). The medium range variants of the Tiago EV offer 61PS of power and 110Nm of torque while the long range variants offer 75PS of power and 114Nm of torque.

2. MG Comet EV

The Comet EV from MG Motor comes with a 17.3kWh battery pack that powers a rear-mounted electric motor. The electric motor produces 42PS of power and 110Nm of torque. The Comet EV offers a claimed range of 230km on a single charge. In terms of charging, the Comet EV can juice up its batteries from 0 to 100% in 7 hours with the accompanying 3.3kW AC charger. The Comet EV does not support DC fast charging.

3. MG Windsor EV

Although the MG Windsor EV is priced from Rs. 14 lakh to Rs. 16 lakh (ex-showroom), you can buy the Windsor Excite base model for Rs. 9.99 lakh using MG’s BaaS ownership program. The Windsor EV is undoubtedly the most powerful electric car in this list. It comes equipped with a 38kWh battery which powers a front-mounted electric motor that produces 136PS of power and 200Nm of torque. MG say the 2025 Windsor EV offers a claimed range of 332km per charge.

4. Tata Punch EV

Launched in January 2024, the Tata Punch EV is also worth considering if you are looking for an EV under 10 lakh rupees in 2024. Based on Tata’s Gen 2 EV architecture, the Punch EV is available in 8 medium range and 12 long range variants. However, only the Punch Smart base variant is priced under Rs. 10 lakh.

The Punch EV medium range variants are powered by a front-mounted electric motor that produces 82PS of power and 114Nm of torque. It is equipped with a 32kWh battery pack, offering a ARAI-claimed range of 315km per charge.

5. Tata Tigor EV (Honourable Mention)

Tata released their second mass-market EV, the Tigor EV, in 2021. Although the Tigor EV costs above Rs. 10 lakh (ex-showroom), it is worth considering if you are planning to switch from petrol or diesel cars to an all-electric vehicle. The Tigor EV is currently priced from Rs. 12.50 lakh to Rs. 13.75 lakh (ex-showroom).

The Tigor EV is powered by a 26kWh battery pack. Its single electric motor, mounted on the front axle, generates 75PS of power and 170Nm of torque. It offers a claimed range of 315km.

6. Citroen eC3 (Honourable Mention)

Like the Tigor EV above, the Citroen eC3 too costs above Rs. 10.0 lakh (ex-showroom). But, it’s worth considering if you prefer an SUV body style. The eC3 is available in a range of variants priced between Rs. 11.99 lakh and Rs. 13.56 lakh (ex-showroom).

The Citroen eC3 comes with a 29.2kWh air-cooled battery pack and its front-mounted electric motor produces 57PS of power and 143Nm of torque. The charging times for the Citroen eC3 are 10.5 hours for a full charge using a 3.3kW AC home charger. A DC fast charger juices up the eC3’s battery from 10% to 80% in 57 minutes.
