What Are The Pros And Cons Of Toyota Taisor Petrol?
The pros or advantages of 2024 Toyota Taisor petrol are:
- Distinct, bold and attractive, Grand Vitara-like styling (despite under-the-skin similarities with the Baleno)
- The only Toyota car with a turbo petrol engine; they have turbo diesels and hybrid petrol but no turbo petrol other than the Fronx-derived Taisor
- Option of manual and automatic transmissions with normal petrol as well as turbo petrol engines
- Standard features such as auto AC, tilt steering, all power windows, remote central locking, projector headlamps and rear defogger make it a compelling package for budget buyers
- Fairly loaded top variant gets features like cruise control, 9-inch touchscreen with wireless phone connectivity, wireless phone charger, telescopic steering, rear AC vents, keyless entry, 6 airbags, 360-degree camera, head-up display and UV-cut windows
- The Taisor is the only car under Rs. 10.0 lakh with an adjustable headrest and a proper 3-point seatbelt for the rear centre passenger
- Good fuel efficiency figures of 20kmpl+ even with the turbo petrol-automatic transmission
- Respectable ground clearance of 190mm
The 2024 Toyota Taisor petrol has the following shortcomings or problems:
- Missing features like a rear armrest, tyre pressure sensors (TPMS) and sunroof
- CNG option is limited to the base variant at the time of launch; the Fronx has 2 variants with CNG
- While they are typically more reliable, because of the fluid coupling, torque converter automatics are quite inefficient, especially in stop-and-go traffic
- Even with no price premium over the Fronx turbo, the Taisor turbo variants come across as quite expensive; the unavailability of the S Plus turbo further makes it appear expensive because of a bigger price jump from the non-turbo variants
- Rs. 1.40 lakh premium for the torque converter automatic transmission is on the higher side too as Rs. 1.0 lakh is the typical industry norm for DCT, TC or CVT type automatics
- Larger B2-segment SUVs like the Nexon, Sonet, with larger dimensions, better SUV stance and more features, have a proper overlap in price with the Taisor turbo making them quite attractive options in comparison
What Is The Price Of Toyota Taisor Petrol Variants?
The Taisor 1.2L normal petrol-manual powertrain is available in the lower 3 variants and costs between Rs. 7.74 lakh and Rs. 9.0 lakh (ex-showroom). The S and S Plus variants are also available with the 1.2L normal petrol-automatic powertrain for an additional Rs. 53,000. With this engine, the Taisor gets a 5-speed AMT type automatic.
The Taisor base model is also available with the CNG bi-fuel option for an additional Rs. 98,000. It costs Rs. 8.72 lakh (ex-showroom).

These 2 variants are also available with a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission for an additional Rs. 1.40 lakh. The 2 Taisor turbo petrol-automatic variants cost Rs. 11.96 lakh and Rs. 12.88 lakh.
New Toyota Taisor E - Base Model Standard Features
The base E variant of the Toyota Taisor is available with 1.2L normal petrol-manual and a 1.2L bi-fuel normal CNG-manual powertrains. It costs Rs. 7.74 lakh with the petrol and Rs. 8.72 lakh with the CNG bi-fuel powertrain. The CNG powertrain carries a premium of Rs. 98,000 over the petrol-only engine option and is only available in the base variant of the Taisor.

The Taisor base variant seems to have several must-have features but you may miss the following notable features:
- Touchscreen/music system
- Rear parcel tray
- Steering-mounted controls
- Power mirrors
- Height-adjustable driver seat
The E variant seems to offer a decent number of features and is worth considering if you don’t want to stretch your budget. In fact, it’s a good option for budget buyers as the higher S variant doesn’t offer a good value for money.
2024 Toyota Taisor E vs S Variant - Price, Feature Comparison
In addition to the petrol-manual powertrain, the S variant of the Taisor add the option of an AMT automatic transmission but loses the CNG. The Toyota Taisor S costs Rs. 8.60 lakh (ex-showroom), which is Rs. 86,000 more than the E petrol-manual. The AMT automatic adds another Rs. 53,000 to the cost and carries an ex-showroom price of Rs. 9.13 lakh.

The Taisor S offers the following additional notable features:

This variant misses out on the following features:
- Height-adjustable driver seat
- LED headlamps
- Rear washer wiper
- Tyre pressure sensors (TPMS)
The S variant seems suitably loaded for budget buyers but it doesn’t even come close to justifying its Rs. 86,000 price gap over the E. For this reason, we don’t recommend buying the Toyota Taisor S variant at all.
New Toyota Taisor Petrol S vs S Plus Variant - Price, Feature Comparison
The S Plus 1.2L petrol costs Rs. 9.0 lakh with the manual and Rs. 9.53 lakh with the AMT automatic. These prices are Rs. 40,000 more than those of the S variant.

This variant adds mostly good-to-have features like:

You may miss the following features in the S Plus variant:
- Height-adjustable driver seat
- Front armrest
- Rear camera
- Rear washer wiper
- Connected LED tail lamps of the higher variants
- Cruise control
- Keyless entry with push-button start/stop
- Machined alloy wheels
While this variant mostly adds good-to-have features, the price gap over the lower S variant is small. So, to all Taisor 1.2L buyers, we’ll suggest buying the S Plus variant even though it doesn’t completely justify the price gap over the Taisor base model.
New Toyota Taisor Petrol S Plus vs G Variant - Price, Feature Comparison
G variant onwards, the Urban Cruiser Taisor only gets the turbo petrol engine with manual and torque converter automatic transmission. The G turbo petrol-manual costs Rs. 10.56 lakh while the turbo petrol-automatic costs Rs. 11.96 lakh.
Since there’s no powertrain overlap in any variant, it’s difficult to precisely say how much price jump you’re making from S Plus to G variant with the same engine-transmission option. Between S Plus petrol-manual to G petrol-manual, the price gap is Rs. 1.56 lakh. This is just for reference. Since they are completely different engines, they aren’t directly comparable. With that caveat out of the way, the price gap between the S Plus petrol-automatic and G petrol-automatic is Rs. 2.43 lakh.

You may miss the following features in the G variant:
- Rear armrest
- Cruise control
- Machined alloy wheels
- TPMS
The G variant looks like the best variant for Taisor turbo petrol buyers. However, some Taisor buyers may find that the on-road price difference is much higher between the S Plus and G. If you intend to own the Taisor for more than 7 years, then you’ll not only appreciate the better drivability of the turbo petrol engine but also the feature-rich interiors. For this reason, the G turbo variant is our top recommendation.
Strictly considering the price gap over the S Plus variant, the G turbo doesn’t come across as a value upgrade. The price jump from the S Plus automatic to G turbo automatic is huge. Still, if you find the turbo petrol engine’s drivability and features as must-haves, then there’s no need to make the jump to the V variant. The G turbo earns our top recommendation.
2024 Toyota Taisor Petrol G vs V Variant - Price, Feature Comparison
The Taisor top model also gets the same turbo petrol-manual and automatic powertrain options. With the manual, it costs Rs. 11.48 lakh and with the automatic, it costs Rs. 12.88 lakh. The V turbo variant of the Urban Cruiser Taisor costs Rs. 92,000 more than the G turbo. Even in the Urban Cruiser Taisor’s top model The price gap between the manual and automatic transmission remains consistent at Rs. 1.40 lakh.

Even in this variant, you may miss features like:
- Rear armrest

- Sunroof
The Taisor V is suitable only for buyers who want a feature-loaded experience with minimal compromises. The Taisor top model doesn’t get our buying recommendation and is worth considering only if you’re willing to pay for the good-to-have features.
Which Variant Of The Toyota Taisor Petrol Should You Buy?
Let’s start with the buying recommendation for Taisor petrol-manual buyers. The E base variant gets a decent number of features and is suitable for buyers on a very tight budget. While the S variant will offer a decent ownership experience for budget buyers, we can’t recommend it as it offers very poor value for money. The S Plus offers better value than the S, although it mostly offers only good-to-have features. This is a suitable option for buyers interested in the Taisor 1.2L petrol-manual.
If you intend to own the Taisor for more than 7 years, then the upgrade to the turbo petrol engine is better justified. Not only will it offer better drivability and performance but also a more balanced ownership experience because of the additional features. It too earns our top recommendation for Taisor petrol-manual buyers. From here, the jump to the V variant is not advisable as it mostly adds good-to-have features.

For the Taisor petrol-automatic buyers also, the S Plus and G turbo variants earn our top recommendation. Depending on your budget and engine preferences, you can pick either of these. Do note, that the turbo petrol automatic carries a steep premium over the 1.2L petrol-automatic. While it has a smoother 6-speed torque converter automatic, the asking price for the same appears to be 40% higher than the industry norm for a similar type of transmission.

What Are The Engine Specifications Of The Toyota Taisor Petrol?
Among the B1 and affordable B2-segment SUVs, just like the Fronx, the Taisor normal petrol offers the best power output while its torque output is on par for a 1.2L normal petrol engine. With a mileage figure of around 22kmpl, the Taisor 1.2L petrol is the most fuel efficient car among its peers. Only the Fronx has a marginally better mileage figure.

The Taisor also gets a 1.0L mild-hybrid turbo petrol engine, which makes 100PS of power and 148Nm of torque. Its power output is acceptable but the torque output is lower than the Kiger and Magnite turbo. With the turbo petrol engine as well, the Taisor remains unbeatable with class-leading fuel efficiency figures. The mileage figures of the Taisor turbo aren’t available right now but we expect it to be about the same as those for the Fronx.

Among affordable CNG SUVs too, the Taisor and Fronx are at the top in terms of fuel efficiency. The performance figures of the Taisor CNG are good as it has better power output than Exter and Punch CNG. But the Punch has a better torque output.
