What Are The Pros And Cons Of The 2024 Tata Curvv?
The pros or advantages of Tata Curvv 2024 are:
- Fantastic pricing, which is something we rarely say about a Tata car; unlike other Tata cars, from base to top, the Curvv comes across as not just competitively priced, but aggressively priced; for the first time, Tata undercut our expected prices by a considerable margin of about Rs. 1.0 lakh across the board
- The sub-Rs. 10.0 lakh starting price makes the Curvv not just the most affordable coupe SUV with a turbo petrol engine, but also the most affordable C-segment SUV with a turbo petrol engine — coupe or not
- Speaking of affordable, the Curvv is also the most affordable car (any body style) with a large panoramic sunroof; even with lower taxes, the most affordable variant of the XUV3XO with a panoramic sunroof costs more than the Curvv’s Pure Plus S
- Best-in-class boot space of 500 litres and a fantastic ground clearance of 208mm
- Choice of 2 turbo petrol engines, each with manual as well as automatic transmission
- Style-conscious decisions like large 18-inch machined alloy wheels and flush door handles help the Curvv’s coupe design pop; the Basalt gets up to 16-inch alloy wheels
- Segment-first features like flush door handles, powered tailgate, height-adjustable front passenger seat
The 2024 Tata Curvv has the following shortcomings or problems:
- Don’t expect great mileage from the Curvv petrol; Tata haven’t announced the ARAI mileage numbers for either of the Curvv petrol powertrains, so it’s safe to assume that they aren’t great
- The automatic transmission carries a steep premium of Rs. 1.50 lakh when even Tata’s more expensive Safari and Harrier automatic only cost Rs. 1.30 lakh more than the comparable manual variants; we expect an automatic transmission of DCT, TC aur CVT type to cost Rs. 1.0 lakh more than the manual
- Several international automakers with DCT automatics have either replaced or discontinued their DCTs in India as India’s harsh driving and climatic conditions make it difficult for them to prove their long-term reliability (Also Read: Discontinued DCT Equipped Cars In India)
- For a negligible improvement in peak power output and better torque output, Tata are asking for a much greater premium for the direct injection turbo petrol engine, about Rs. 50,000 seems like a reasonable asking price for the performance improvement over base turbo petrol engine
- Even the top variant of the Curvv doesn’t get features like rear window curtains, dual-zone auto AC and telescopic steering; if you also factor in some of the less useful features, then the list would also include head-up display, traction control and power adjustment for front passenger seat
- Poor feature distribution — neither the base nor mid-spec variants get enough must-have features to become easy recommendations; for instance, you can’t get TPMS and rear armrest unless you buy a variant with a panoramic sunroof and 18-inch alloy wheels (Creative Plus S); split folding rear seats are only available in top 2 variants; MG Astor offers split rear seats, rear armrest, auto AC, rear defogger, power mirrors and front armrest as standard
- While the information about the Curvv was disseminated pretty accurately and consistently across platforms, some ambiguity remains as neither their brochure nor their website clearly specifies if the Curvv even gets front parking sensors; with the help of their configurator, we were able to confirm that they are available in Creative Plus S and higher variants
- Adaptive cruise control is not available with manual transmission
What Is The Price Of 2024 Tata Curvv Petrol Variants?
The Tata Curvv is available in 6 main variants — Smart, Pure Plus, Creative, Creative Plus S, Accomplished S and Accomplished Plus A. Pure Plus S and Creative S are the sunroof variants of the respective non-sunroof variants.
Further, there are 4 powertrain options:
- 1.2L turbo petrol-manual
- 1.2L turbo petrol-auto (7-speed DCT)
- 1.2L DI turbo petrol-manual
- 1.2L DI turbo petrol-auto (7-speed DCT)
The base 1.2L turbo petrol engine with 6-speed manual transmission is available in all the variants except the top Accomplished Plus A variant. The Curvv petrol prices with this powertrain range between Rs. 10.0 lakh and Rs. 14.69 lakh (ex-showroom). The automatic transmission with the base turbo petrol engine is available with all variants except the Curvv base model and Curvv top model. The prices of Curvv petrol-automatic variants with the base petrol engine start from Rs. 12.50 lakh and goes up to Rs. 16.20 lakh. This automatic transmission carries a premium of Rs. 1.50 lakh over the base petrol-manual.
The top turbo petrol engine with direct injection carries a premium of Rs. 1.30 lakh over the base turbo petrol engine. The top 1.2L turbo petrol engine gets 6-speed manual and 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission option. With the manual transmission, it’s available in Creative S and higher variants with the ex-showroom price ranging between Rs. 14.0 lakh and Rs. 17.50 lakh. Here too, the automatic transmission carries a premium of about Rs. 1.50 lakh over the manual transmission. The automatic transmission of the DI turbo petrol engine is only available in the top 3 variants with ex-showroom prices starting from Rs. 16.50 lakh and going up to Rs. 19.0 lakh.

- Wheel covers
- 4-spoke steering
- Touchscreen
- Steering-mounted controls
- TPMS
- Auto AC
- Rear camera
- Power mirrors
- Split-folding rear seatbacks
- Rear defogger
While the base variant doesn’t get several must-have features, we can safely recommend this to budget-conscious buyers because of the attractive starting price. You’ll just have to spend a little more on getting some accessories, either through the dealer or look into 3rd party accessory options.
2024 Tata Curvv Smart vs Pure Plus Variant - Price, Feature Comparison
In addition to the petrol-manual powertrain, the Pure Plus variant of the Curvv also gets the DCT automatic option. This variant will cost you Rs. 11.0 lakh with manual transmission, which is Rs. 1.0 lakh higher than the base Smart trim. For the automatic transmission, you will have to pay another Rs. 1.50 lakh.

- TPMS
- Auto AC
- Split-folding rear seatbacks
- Rear defogger
- Wireless Android Auto, Apple Carplay
- Keyless entry w/ push-button start/stop
- Boot lamp
This variant only justifies about 70% of the incremental cost of upgrade over the Curvv base model with the additional features. Since this is the lowest among all Curvv petrol variants, we’ll suggest you skip this one and buy a higher variant. This recommendation is applicable for manual as well as automatic buyers
New Tata Curvv Petrol Pure Plus vs Pure Plus S Variant - Price, Feature Comparison
The Pure Plus S gets the same powertrain options as the lower Pure Plus variant. The Pure Plus S will cost you Rs. 11.70 lakh with the manual and Rs. 13.20 lakh with the automatic. The Pure Plus S automatic is Rs. 70,000 pricier than the Pure Plus.

You may miss the following features in the Pure Plus S variant:
- Rear armrest
- TPMS
- Auto AC
- Split-folding rear seatbacks
- Rear defogger
- Wireless Android Auto, Apple Carplay
- Keyless entry w/ push-button start/stop
- Boot lamp
- Rear window sunshades
Because of the panoramic sunroof, which is a high-value feature, the Pure Plus S variant manages to completely justify the cost over the base variant and deliver 17% additional perceived value for money. So, we can recommend this variant to value-conscious buyers who don’t want to spend any more.
New Tata Curvv Petrol Pure Plus vs Creative Variant - Price, Feature Comparison
The Creative variant of the Curvv offers the same powertrain options as the Pure Plus. The Creative variant costs Rs. 12.20 lakh with the manual and Rs. 13.70 lakh with the automatic transmission. These prices are Rs. 1.20 lakh more than the Pure Plus variant.

You may miss the following features in the Creative variant:

- TPMS
- Split-folding rear seatbacks
- 360-degree camera
- Boot lamp
- Rear window sunshades
While the Creative variant only justifies about 83% of the incremental cost over the base model with additional features, it adds several must-have features. So, this one earns our top recommendation for Curvv petrol-manual as well as automatic buyers
2024 Tata Curvv Petrol Creative vs Creative S Variant - Price, Feature Comparison
In addition to the base petrol-manual and base petrol-automatic, the Creative S also offers the option of top petrol-manual (DI) with manual transmission. The Creative S variant only adds Rs. 50,000 to the asking price and its list of additional features is also small. The Curvv Creative S petrol-manual costs Rs. 12.70 lakh while the automatic costs Rs. 14.20 lakh (ex-showroom). For the top turbo petrol engine, you will have to pay Rs. 13.99 lakh, which is Rs. 1.30 lakh more than the base petrol-manual.

Even in this variant, you may miss features like:
- Rear armrest
- TPMS
- Split-folding rear seatbacks
- 360-degree camera
- Boot lamp
- Rear window sunshades
- Telescopic steering
First, let’s get the more powerful engine out of the way. It barely adds about Rs. 50,000 worth of value with better power and torque figures. Tata are asking for Rs. 1.30 lakh premium for this new turbo petrol engine. So, this engine is a no go for all Curvv buyers except in one condition, which we’ll get to in a minute.
The base turbo petrol is plenty good and much superior than a non-turbo engine in terms of drivability. With this engine, you can buy the Creative S variant also if you want better value for money and a sunroof.
2024 Tata Curvv Petrol Creative S vs Creative Plus S Variant - Price, Feature Comparison
Creative Plus S variant onwards, the Curvv also gets the top turbo petrol engine with dual-clutch automatic transmission. While the Creative Plus S base turbo petrol-manual costs Rs. 13.70 lakh, the top turbo petrol-manual will cost you Rs. 15.0 lakh (ex-showroom), which is Rs. 1.30 lakh more expensive. The Creative Plus S base petrol-automatic and top petrol-automatic, both cost Rs. 1.50 lakh more than the respective petrol-manual variants. This variant is Rs. 1.0 lakh costlier than the lower Creative S variant.

Even in this variant, you may miss features like:
- Split-folding rear seatbacks
- Dual-zone auto AC
- Rear window sunshades
- Split-folding rear seatbacks
- Telescopic steering
The Creative Plus S variant justifies about 111% of value over the base model with the additional features. However, the high-value features in its list are good-to-have. So, we’ll rather suggest you skip this one and buy the higher Accomplished S variant, which gets a few extra features to significantly improve your ownership experience.
Just like the lower variant, you can skip the DI turbo petrol engine of this variant as well
2024 Tata Curvv Petrol Creative Plus S vs Accomplished S Variant - Price, Feature Comparison
Just like the lower Creative Plus S variant, the Accomplished S variant of the Tata Curvv also offers all petrol powertrain options. This variant is exactly Rs. 1.0 lakh more expensive than the lower Creative Plus S variant. The Accomplished S variant with base petrol-manual costs Rs. 14.70 lakh and with the top petrol-manual powertrain, it costs Rs. 16.0 lakh (ex-showroom). If you want to buy this variant with the automatic transmission, then you’ll have to pay another Rs. 1.50 lakh regardless of which engine you choose.

|
|
|
|
|
|
Even in this variant, you may miss features like:
- Dual-zone auto AC
- Rear window sunshades
- Telescopic steering
The Accomplished S variant is sorted on the value front and will offer a much better ownership experience for an additional Rs. 1.0 lakh. The superior sound system, power driver seat, leather upholstery, height-adjustable front passenger seat and ventilated front seats will improve your ownership experience to a much greater degree than the lower trim. So, we’ll rather suggest you buy this variant instead of the lower Creative Plus S.
As mentioned before, the top turbo petrol engine is not recommended.
2024 Tata Curvv Petrol Accomplished S vs Accomplished Plus A Variant - Price, Feature Comparison
The top-spec Curvv Accomplished Plus A variant only gets the more powerful turbo petrol engine with manual and automatic transmission options. It costs Rs. 17.50 lakh with manual and Rs. 19.0 lakh with the automatic. These prices are Rs. 1.50 lakh higher than the lower trim with the same powertrain options.

Even in this variant, you may miss features like:
- Adaptive cruise control with stop and go traffic assist (not available with manual transmission)
- Dual-zone auto AC
- Rear window sunshades
- Power front passenger seat
- Telescopic steering
With the top variant, we’ll take a U-turn and comfortably recommend the DI turbo petrol engine to the Curvv buyers because the Curvv top model is only available with the top petrol engine. Moreover, here, it’s able to better justify the value for money with ADAS features, which have a much higher perceived value.
So, if you want ADAS features and/or the DI turbo petrol engine, then at least you don't have to compromise in terms of value with the Curvv top model.
Which Variant Of The Tata Curvv Petrol Should You Buy?
Before we start with the buying recommendation for Curvv petrol-manual buyers, let’s get one thing out of the way — DON’T BUY the more powerful turbo petrol engine. While it doesn’t add enough power, it has a notably better torque output — enough to make you feel like you’re driving something more powerful. However, it doesn’t even come close to justifying the price gap over the tried-and-tested MPFI turbo petrol engine. Moreover, since both petrol engines of the Curvv get a turbocharger, the drivability and performance difference isn’t as stark as you might feel compared to a non-turbo petrol. Finally, it’s a new engine and you should consider giving Tata at least a few months to iron the bugs out of this engine. You can expect far superior long-term reliability with the older engine with 170Nm of torque output.
Now, let’s get to the well-priced Curvv base model. It looks like a good deal even though it doesn’t get a bunch of must-have features. After all, the Curvv Smart is the only C-segment SUV with an ex-showroom price tag of less than Rs. 10.0 lakh. Despite a mouth-watering price tag of Rs. 7.99 lakh, even the Basalt doesn’t offer a turbo petrol variant at this price. So, you can consider getting the base model of the Curvv and add some aftermarket accessories either from the dealer or another shop.
From there, the next Pure Plus variant comes across as expensive as it doesn’t add enough features to justify the price gap. The Pure Plus S comes across as a shining example of style-first positioning as it’s the most affordable car in India with a panoramic sunroof. On the value front too, addition of a high-value feature like sunroof helps it justify the price gap from the well-priced base variant.
Next up, the Creative and Creative S earn our opt recommendation as they offer a balanced feature set while offering a decent value proposition. Between these two, you can choose either one based on your preference for a sunroof. The Creative Plus S also seems to justify its price gap strictly from the value standpoint, but it doesn't add enough compelling features to warrant an upgrade. Instead, you should consider spending a little more and getting the Accomplished S variant for a thoroughly modern car ownership experience.
While we don’t recommend buying the top turbo petrol engine of the Curvv with direct injection, its Accomplished Plus A variant is a nice option as it offers the ADAS kit.

With automatic transmission too, the Creative and Creative S remain our top recommendation. Buyers with a greater budget should consider buying the Accomplished S instead of Creative Plus S as the higher variant offers more useful features like a superior sound system, power driver seat, front seat ventilation and leather upholstery.
With the more powerful petrol engine, the Curvv top model Accomplished Plus A is the only option worth considering as it adds ADAS features and manages to justify most of the upgrade cost over the base model. Just like a sunroof, ADAS features have a disproportionately higher perceived value. If you don't want the ADAS features, then the Accomplished S with the base petrol-automatic is a better choice for about Rs. 3.0 lakh less (on-road).

What Are The Engine Specifications Of The Tata Curvv Petrol?
Among the C-segment SUVs with a base turbo petrol engine, the Curvv engine shines with its best-in-class power output. However, its torque output is the lowest. The Kushaq and Taigun churn out more torque than the Curvv turbo petrol despite a lower displacement. Just like the other cars in this comparison, the Curvv also offers the option of a manual and an automatic transmission. The Curvv’s automatic is a 7-speed DCT unit. Tata haven’t revealed the mileage figures of the Curvv petrol and we expect them to be lower than the industry average.

Against non-turbo petrol engine SUVs like Creta, Seltos, Vitara, Hyryder, Astor and Elevate, the Curvv’s base turbo engine maintains an upper hand with a healthy advantage in torque output. Moreover, like all turbo engines, its torque peaks at low RPMs, which makes a huge difference in the everyday drivability as you don’t have to downshift and rev it hard to get a decent acceleration. Here, the Vitara and Hyryder hold on to their top position in terms of mileage figures.

Finally, comparing it with the top turbo petrol engines, it becomes apparent that the Curvv manages to squeeze out respectable performance from a modest displacement. The 225Nm torque from Curvv’s top turbo petrol engine is not too far from the 250Nm of the European twins and 253Nm of the Korean twins. The only threat in this segment, in terms of performance, comes from the Roxx — a body-on-frame SUV with rear-wheel drivetrain. Its massive 2.0L turbo petrol engine makes up to 177PS of power and 380Nm of torque. A significant price overlap with the C-segment SUVs makes it an option worth your consideration — if you don’t care much about the fuel efficiency. That’s not the two Indian manufacturers’ field of expertise — neither for Tata nor for Mahindra. Perhaps, that’s the reason their ARAI figures remain a secret.

What Are The Dimensions Of The 2024 Tata Curvv?
In terms of dimensions, the 2024 Curvv has the best boot space and the widest body compared to the Basalt, Seltos, Taigun and Kushaq. However, the Kushaq and Taigun have a better wheelbase than the Curvv. In this segment, the Elevate holds the crown for having the best ground clearance.
