What Are The Pros And Cons Of Nissan Magnite 2024?
The pros or advantages of Nissan Magnite are:
- Imposing design, especially the front gives it a remarkable road presence
- 205mm ground clearance is second only to the Nexon
- Respectable 4-star GNCAP rating as the Magnite continues to use the same platform as the older model
- Segment-first and, at the time of publishing this article, segment-exclusive, soft-touch leather dashboard and interior along with frameless inside mirror drastically improve the car’s overall feel and perception of quality
- Fantastic feature distribution among variants; list of standard features includes: 6 airbags, rear armrest, 5x 3-point seatbelts, 4x adjustable headrests, ESC, HSA, TPMS, all power windows, large, 16-inch wheels, day/night inside mirror and internally-adjustable mirrors
- Option of 4 powertrain options - 1.0L normal petrol-manual and AMT automatic, 1.0L turbo petrol-manual and CVT automatic
- Respectable list of features in the top variant: LCD instrument cluster, cruise control, 360-degree camera, TPMS, rear AC vents, LED headlamps and DRLs
The Nissan Magnite has the following shortcomings or problems:
- 16-inch wheels even with the 1.0L normal petrol engine may affect its drivability and fuel efficiency because of the higher rotating mass
- Limited sales and service network
- No sunroof in any variant in times when Nexon and 3XO offer a large panoramic sunroof options in certain variants while Punch and Exter also get a smaller sunroof
- Missing features: front parking sensors, rear window sunshades, ADAS
- Cruise control limited to higher-end Tekna variant
- Strange decision to offer larger, 9-inch touchscreen in lower variant and a smaller 8-inch touchscreen in higher variants
- The non-turbo engine is too underpowered and warrants an upgrade, which is too expensive as the turbo petrol engine carries a steep premium
- Too many variants and powertrain combinations may confuse some buyers
- No CNG bi-fuel option, which is available with Brezza, Fronx, Taisor, Punch and Exter
- No 6 airbag option — Addressed in October 2024 update
- No diesel engine option — No longer relevant considering the market dynamics and price range of the Magnite
What Is The Price Of Nissan Magnite Petrol Variants?
The 2024 Nissan Magnite is available with 4 engine-transmission combinations:
- 1.0L normal petrol with manual transmission
- 1.0L normal petrol with AMT automatic transmission
- 1.0L turbo petrol with manual transmission
- 1.0L turbo petrol with CVT automatic transmission
The new Magnite is available in a total of 6 variants with prices starting from Rs. 5.99 lakh and going all the way up to Rs. 11.50 lakh. The turbo petrol is available in only the higher variants. Compared to the normal petrol-manual, the turbo petrol variants cost about Rs. 1.25 - 1.35 lakh more. If you compare the automatic transmission variants of turbo and non-turbo Magnite, then the price gap stretches up to Rs. 2.15 lakh. This is because the turbo petrol already carries a premium and on top of that the turbo gets a smoother CVT automatic transmission. Meanwhile, the normal petrol engine of the Nissan Magnite gets a more affordable AMT-type automatic transmission.

The more affordable AMT automatic transmission of the Magnite costs Rs. 50,000 - 60,500 higher price tag. If you’re interested in the turbo petrol engine with an automatic transmission, then you should expect to pay Rs. 1.15 lakh more for the same.
It’s good to see that Nissan chose to offer AMT automatic even in the base variant. This makes the car that much more affordable to buy for people who don’t want all the bells and whistles and just want a big car like Magnite with an automatic transmission.
Similarly, the turbo petrol-manual is not available in the lower 4 variants but the automatic transmission is available in the Acenta variant. This makes it the only turbo-CVT option of the Magnite to carry an ex-showroom price of under Rs. 10.0 lakh. Since many buyers have a budget and psychological barrier of Rs. 10.0 lakh, this variant manages to make it to their shortlist.

Nissan Magnite Visia — Base Model Standard Features
The base Visia variant of the new Nissan Magnite is only available with the 1.0L normal petrol engine and it has the option of a manual and a 5-speed AMT automatic. It costs Rs. 5.99 lakh (ex-showroom) with the manual and Rs. 6.60 lakh with the AMT automatic.

You may miss the following features in the base variant:
- Height-adjustable driver seat
- Remote central locking
- Music system
- Steering-mounted controls
- Wheel covers
The base variant seems to get a few features, which we’re not used to seeing in a car of this size at this price. For example, rear armrest and split rear seats are often either reserved for higher variants or more expensive cars. Meanwhile, features like wheel covers, music system and central locking are fairly easy to install either from the aftermarket or from the dealer at the time of delivery. So the feature omission is understandable as they’re prioritising those features, which are not easy to install post purchase.
Therefore, if you’re on a tight budget and want the Nissan Magnite, then this is a good option. Especially if you're interested in the AMT automatic, it makes more sense as the upgrade to the next most affordable AMT automatic variant is more than Rs. 1.0 lakh.
However, if you are interested in the manual transmission, and can afford to stretch your budget, then the Visia Plus seems like a good option. It adds mostly must-have features and you don’t have to suffer a big compromise in value for money either. We wish it were also available with the AMT automatic.
Nissan Magnite Visia vs Visia Plus Variant - Price, Feature Comparison
The Magnite Visia Plus variant gets the same normal petrol-manual powertrain but misses out on the AMT automatic transmission. This variant costs Rs. 6.49 lakh, which is Rs. 50,000 more than the base model with the same powertrain.

In the Visia Plus variant, you might miss features like:
- Height-adjustable driver seat
- Remote central locking
- Steering-mounted controls
- Wheel covers
- Front armrest
- Power-adjustable outside mirrors
- Body-coloured outside mirrors
- Rear parcel tray
- Rear AC vents
The Visia Plus variant is only available with the manual transmission and it mostly adds must-have features. So, we will strongly advise you to upgrade to the Visia Plus if you are interested in the Magnite non-turbo petrol-manual powertrain.
Nissan Magnite Visia Plus vs Acenta Variant - Price, Feature Comparison
Besides the normal petrol-manual and AMT automatic, the Acenta also gets the option of a turbo petrol engine with CVT automatic. Magnite Acenta normal petrol-manual costs Rs. 7.14 lakh, which is Rs. 64,600 higher than the lower Visia Plus variant. The AMT automatic with the same engine carries a premium of Rs. 50,000 and costs Rs. 7.64 lakh (ex-showroom). Finally, the Acenta turbo petrol-automatic costs Rs. 9.79 lakh, which is Rs. 2.15 lakh more than the non-turbo automatic.

The notable features you are likely to miss in the Acenta variant are:
- Front armrest
- Rear parcel tray
- Rear AC vents
- Rear window sunshades
While the Acenta variant also adds a good number of must-have and good-to-have features, it offers poor value for money compared to the lower and higher variants of the Magnite. This variant is not recommended for all powertrains. The higher N-Connecta variant is a much better upgrade for Manite normal petrol buyers.
Nissan Magnite Acenta vs N-Connecta Variant - Price, Feature Comparison
N-Connecta variant onwards, we get all powertrain options with the Nissan Magnite. The Magnite N-Connecta variant with the normal petrol-manual and AMT automatic costs Rs. 7.86 lakh and Rs. 8.35 lakh (ex-showroom). These prices are Rs. 72,000 higher than the lower Acenta variant with similar powertrain options.
For the Magnite turbo buyers, the N-Connecta manual and CVT automatic cost Rs. 9.19 lakh and Rs. 10.34 lakh, respectively. Since we also get the Acenta turbo automatic, we can say that with the turbo petrol-automatic powertrain, this variant is only Rs. 55,000 pricier than the lower trim.

The notable features we believe it doesn’t have are:
- Rear window sunshades
- Front parking sensors
- Cruise control
- LED or projector headlamps
The N-Connecta variant adds a good number of useful features along with a few good-to-have features. With the normal petrol-manual and normal petrol-AMT powertrains, it is the most value for money option and it earns our top recommendation.
For Magnite turbo petrol-manual buyers, though, we feel that a higher variant with smaller premium for the performance upgrade will make it a better option.
Nissan Magnite N-Connecta vs Tekna Premium Variant - Price, Feature Comparison
The Tekna variant costs Rs. 8.75 lakh with the normal petrol-manual, Rs. 9.25 lakh with the normal petrol-automatic (AMT), Rs. 9.99 lakh with the turbo petrol-manual and Rs. 11.14 lakh with the turbo petrol-automatic (CVT). For the Magnite non-turbo buyers, the Tekna variant is Rs. 89,000 pricier but for Magnite turbo buyers, it’s only Rs. 80,000 more expensive than the lower N-Connecta variant.

|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
In the Tekna variant, you may miss the following features:
- Rear window sunshades
- Sunroof
Tekna onwards, we’re in pretty much the higher end spectrum of the Magnite variants. If you’re interested in the Tekna variant and you’re considering the non-turbo engines, then we’ll strongly advise you to consider buying it with the turbo petrol engine.
Since you’re interested in a loaded variant, we can assume that you probably intend to keep the car for a good 7-10 years. During that time, your tastes will evolve and while the Magnite may be reasonably loaded in terms of features, its performance will come to annoy you. Once you drive your peers’ cars, you’re likely to come to hate the performance of the base petrol engine. Then, selling your old car and buying a new one will end up financially hurting you a lot more as the depreciation is highest during the initial ownership period. So, the financially prudent thing to do is bite the bullet and pick the overpriced turbo petrol engine with manual or CVT automatic.
Turbo petrol engines have far superior drivability even if they have lower displacement. So, drivability-wise, you can remain satisfied for 10 years or maybe even longer.
Nissan Magnite Tekna vs Tekna Plus Variant - Top Model Price, Feature Comparison
Lastly, we have the Tekna Plus variant, which costs Rs. 9.10 lakh with the normal petrol-manual powertrain while the AMT adds another Rs. 50,000 to the asking price. With the turbo petrol engine, the 2024 Magnite top model has an ex-showroom price of Rs. 10.35 lakh and Rs. 11.50 lakh for manual and automatic, respectively.

The Tekna Plus variant adds the following additional features over the Tekna trim:
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Since the Tekna Plus mostly adds cosmetic features, here too, you may miss the following features:
- Rear window sunshades
- Sunroof
Just like the Tekna variant, the Tekna Plus also holds similar recommendations. That you should consider buying this with the (overpriced) turbo petrol engine. In fact, for turbo petrol buyers, the Tekna and Tekna Plus are the only variants worth considering even though they fail to earn our top recommendation.
Which Variant Of The 2024 Nissan Magnite Petrol Should You Buy?
Considering that Nissan have not increased the entry-level prices of the car, the Magnie base model continues to appear attractive for budget buyers. However, if you’re buying it with the manual transmission, then consider going for the Visia Plus variant as it offers a few more must-have features without a major compromise in value.
If you want a more feature-rich variant, then the N-Connecta is our top recommendation for petrol-manual as well as petrol-automatic (AMT) buyers.

Front there, the Tekna and Tekna Plus variants mostly add feel-good features and if you are willing to spend on those features, then you may as well spend on the turbo petrol engine. The performance may not be a priority for you right now, but since you are interested in one of the loaded, higher variants of the Magnite, you can easily keep it for a much longer ownership period. During that time, your priorities will evolve and performance may become an important aspect of your car. Then, instead of spending on a new car and taking a depreciation hit on the older one, buying a more suitable car today will end up costing less overall.
With the turbo petrol engine, you can buy the Tekna or Tekna Plus variants. They offer good value for money. This recommendation is applicable for manual as well as CVT automatic buyers.
None of the Magnite turbo variants managed to earn our top recommendation as they aren’t offering a compelling package that warrants an upgrade. If the turbo petrol engine were priced a bit more aggressively like the non-turbo, perhaps the Tekna would have become our top recommendation. We wish the turbo petrol-manual variants carried a premium of well under Rs. 1.0 lakh compared to similar variants with normal petrol-manual powertrain.

What Are The Engine Specifications Of The Nissan Magnite Petrol?
The Nissan Magnite has a lot of competitors. So, let’s start with the more affordable small SUVs. Among these, the Magnite’s power and torque output are only comparable with the Kiger. All other cars in this comparison have better power and torque output. In fact, the smaller Ignis even has better fuel efficiency despite having one extra cylinder.

When you look at the larger, more expensive B2 SUVs, the Magnite here too comes across as underpowered. In this comparison, the Fronx/Taisor twins are the most powerful. But the Sonet and C3 have the highest torque output. Here too, the Magnite’s torque output is the lowest and it’s the only car with a double-digit torque figure. Once again, Maruti Fronx/ Toyota Taisor’s mileage figures are better than the Magnite’s despite more powerful and larger displacement engines.

Among turbo petrol SUVs with 1.0L engine, the Magnite’s power output is on par with that of the Kiger and Fronx/Taisor twins. If not for the Fronx/Taisor, the Magnite would have had the lowest torque figure too. At least with the CVT automatic, it’s not that much higher either. Once again, the Fronx/Taisor have a superior mileage figure.

Comparing the Magnite turbo with larger turbo petrol engines of the small SUVs, here the 3XO shines with its 1.2L direct injection turbo petrol engine with 131PS of power and 230Nm of torque. Surprisingly, the XUV3XO is the most fuel efficient car here; at least with the DI turbo petrol-manual powertrain. Meanwhile, the Nexon is the least efficient.

What Are The Dimensions Of The 2024 Nissan Magnite?
The Magnite is a fairly wide and tall car but its ground clearance is worth talking about more than anything else. The 205mm ground clearance is second only to the Nexon’s 209mm and on par with the Sonet and Kiger’s. In this company, only the 3XO gets 17-inch alloy wheels in the higher trims.

When you compare it with the more affordable small SUVs, the Magnite shines even more. It’s not only visibly larger than the Punch, Exter, Ignis and even the C3 but it also has the best ground clearance — matched only by the Kiger. The Magnite and Kiger also offer 16-inch wheels as standard while the Exter offers small 14-inch wheels in the lower trims.
