What Are The Pros And Cons Of The 2025 Hyundai Creta Electric?
The pros or advantages of Hyundai Creta Electric 2025 are:
- NMC battery chemistry makes it resistant to range fluctuations in extremely colder climates, such as Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal & Uttarakhand
- NMC batteries also offer considerably higher energy density (25 -35% higher density) and can therefore deliver better mileage (Creta Electric’s ARAI mileage of 9.2kmpu is ~12% higher than that of the estimated mileage of eVitara — 8.2kmpu)
- A well-known car brand (Creta) from a trustworthy car manufacturer (Hyundai) makes the Creta a safe choice for people who are not ready to risk reliability & ownership experience with Indian or Chinese electric cars
- Satisfactory torque output of 255Nm is much better than Curvv EV’s 215Nm and Creta turbo petrol’s 253Nm and Creta diesel’s 250Nm
- ADAS-linked regen is innovative as it maximises the range by using less regenerative braking on free roads and maximising regen if there’s not enough road to coast
- 1-pedal driving with steering-mounted paddle shifters make extracting the best range very easy for hypermilers in the lower variant without ADAS
- Hyundai’s enormous sales and service network makes it currently the electric car with the widest service support throughout India
- The introduction of a well-established brand (Creta) with an electric powertrain from a trusted brand (Hyundai) will do more to tip buyers towards EV adoption than any one particular car has done so far
- Hyundai’s experience in making, selling and servicing EVs in India will play a big role in their long-term reliability as they have been selling the Ioniq 5 for 2 years and before that, the Kona Electric first went on sale in 2019
- Hyundai enjoy a perfect positioning in terms of brand perception in India as they are neither known to be as problematic as cars from Tata or Mahindra nor do they suffer from anti-China sentiments like MG or BYD
- Not-so-dramatic styling changes make the Creta EV very palatable for buyers who don’t want to standout as treehuggers
The 2025 Hyundai Creta Electric has the following shortcomings or problems:
- Battery heating is only available with the larger battery pack; smaller battery pack may not be suitable for people living in extremely cold regions
- NMC batteries use expensive metals such as Nickel & Cobalt, they can be quite expensive to replace should the need arise (about 20-25% more expensive than LFP)
- While it’s more than enough for most car buyers, the battery lifespan is also an area of concern with NMC as they degrade to about 80% capacity in ~1500 charge cycles while LFPs still hold strong with 90% capacity
- No EV-specific platform means it doesn’t benefit from cost and efficiency optimisations and has to carry some dead weight, which is only relevant in a car with an engine
- The larger battery pack carries a steeper premium than expected (probably because of the NMC chemistry and lack of battery heating); it appears to cost about Rs. 50,000 more than it should even after factoring in the higher power output and battery heating
- Torque output is better than that of the Curvv EV and Windsor but less than that of the ZS (280Nm), Atto3 (310Nm) and BE 6e (380Nm)
- The base variant gets some good-to-have features like alloy wheels, 10.25-inch LCD instrument cluster, while missing out on a few must-have features like rear window sunshades, battery heating, 360 camera, blind spot view
- Pricing of the Creta EV, in general, is not quite attractive as the MG Windsor or even the ZS EV (which is available with about Rs. 1.50 lakh discounts)
What Is The Price Of Hyundai Creta Electric Variants?
The Hyundai Creta Electric is available in 5 main variants — Executive, Smart, Smart (O), Premium and Excellence with primarily 2 battery pack options:
- 42kWh battery pack: The 42kwh option is available with 4 variants — Executive, Smart, Smart (O) and Premium. The prices of the 42kwh battery pack option cost between Rs. 17.99 lakh and Rs. 20.0 lakh.
- 51.4kWh battery pack: This option is only available with the Smart (O) and Excellence variants. The prices of the 51.4kWh Smart (O) and Excellence variants cost Rs. 21.50 lakh and Rs. 23.50 lakh, respectively. In the Smart (O) variant, the longer range 51.4kWh option costs Rs. 2.0 lakh more than the comparable 42kwh variant.

Considering the price of the Creta Electric base model, you may miss the following features:
- Power driver seat
- Wireless phone charger
- Panoramic sunroof or glass roof
- Ventilated seats
- 360 degree camera
- Home wall box charger
- Battery thermal management (battery heating function is only available with the larger battery pack)
The Creta Electric base variant is a reasonably well loaded car as it covers most of the basic features as well as the good-to-have features. If you are looking for a Creta Electric variant on a budget and the 42kWh battery pack is sufficient for you then the Executive variant is best for you.
2025 Hyundai Creta Electric Executive 42kWh vs Smart 42kWhVariant - Price, Feature Comparison
The higher Smart 42kWh variant of the Creta EV also gets the same 42kWh battery pack option and it costs Rs. 19.0 lakh, which is Rs. 1.01 lakh more than the base trim.

The Smart 42kWh variant of the Creta Electric gets the following additional notable features over the base Executive base model:

|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
In this variant, you may miss features like:
- Sunroof
- 360 degree camera
- Auto wipers
The Smart 42kWh variant of the Creta Electric is not recommended as it offers poor value for money. According to our algorithm, the Smart variant doesn’t justify the incremental cost of Rs. 1.01 lakh over the base variant. Moreover, the Smart 42kWh variant mostly offers good-to-have features which are not worth paying a premium of Rs. 1.0 lakh, we recommend buying the Executive variant or upgrading to a higher variant of the Creta Electric.
Hyundai Creta Electric Smart 42kWh vs Smart (O) 42kWh Variant - Price, Feature Comparison
With the higher Smart (O) variant, you have the option of buying the Creta Electric with the larger, 51.4kWh battery pack. The Creta Electric Smart (O) variant costs Rs. 19.50 lakh with the 42kWh battery pack and Rs. 21.50 lakh with the 51.4 kWh battery pack. The 42kWh of this variant is Rs. 50,000 pricier than the Smart 42kWh variant. If you want the long range option, then you’ll have to pay another Rs. 2.0 lakh.

The Smart (O) variant of the Creta Electric gets the following additional notable features over the Smart variant:

|
In the Smart (O) variant of the Creta Electric, you may miss features like:
- Auto wipers
- Auto dimming inside mirror
- Adaptive cruise control
- Ventilated seats
- 360 degree camera
Panoramic sunroof is the only high-value feature of the Smart (O) 42kWh variant and the incremental cost of Rs. 50,000 is more than justified for this. Still, there isn’t a strong reason to upgrade to this variant apart from features like sunroof, rear sunshades, and electrically adjustable driver seat. Therefore, with the 42kWh battery pack, the Executive variant is the best option. If you can stretch your budget a little more then you should better buy the Premium 42kWh variant.
For 51.4kWh battery pack buyers who are looking for an affordable choice, then this variant is top recommended by us. You may be charged a premium of Rs. 2.0 lakh over the Smart (O) 42kWh variant but you also get a better range of 473km, higher power and a battery heating option. However, you will have the peace of mind that comes with having a higher range and reduced range anxiety, we think this premium is justifiable.
Hyundai Creta Electric Smart (O) 42kWh vs Premium 42kWh Variant - Price, Feature Comparison
The higher Premium 42kWh variant of the Creta Electric is only available with the medium range option as the Smart 42kWh variant. The Premium 42kWh variant cost Rs. 20.0 lakh. This variant is exactly Rs. 50,000 higher than the lower Smart (O) variant of the Creta EV.

In the Premium 42kWh variant, you may miss features like:
- Auto wipers
- Auto dimming inside mirror
- Ventilated seats
- 360 degree camera
With the 42kWh battery pack, the Premium variant is the last variant above the Smart (O) variant, which will cost you another Rs. 50,000. With this upgrade, you will get the ADAS technology, featuring adaptive cruise control, auto braking, and lane-keep assist.
Clearly, getting ADAS tech for Rs. 50,000 is worth it, and according to our algorithm, the Premium variant offers far more value than its incremental cost compared to the base Executive variant. So, if you’re opting for the smaller battery pack and don’t want to miss out on features, you should go for the Premium variant. It is the top recommended variant for the smaller battery pack.
Hyundai Creta Electric Premium 42kWh vs Excellence 51.4kWh Variant - Price, Feature Comparison
The Excellence top model of the Hyundai Creta EV only gets the 51.4kWh battery pack. The Creta EV’s Excellence 51.4kWh cost Rs. 23.50 lakh (ex-showroom). These prices are Rs. 3.50 lakh higher than the lower Premium 42kWh trim.

If you're interested in the 51.4kWh battery pack, the only variant available above the Smart (O) variant is the Excellence variant, which costs Rs. 2.0 lakh more. In addition to the ADAS and other features included in the Premium variant, the Excellence variant adds features like 8-way electrically adjustable front seats with ventilation and driver memory, auto wipers, a digital key, an auto-dimming inside mirror, front parking sensors, a 360-degree parking camera, leather upholstery, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel which easily justifies the Rs. 2.0 lakh premium.
Since most of these features are good-to-have and justify the premium, you can decide to upgrade to this variant based on your feature preferences.
Which Variant Of The Hyundai Creta Electric Should You Buy?
The buying recommendation for the Creta Electric buyers is fairly simple. Hyundai has equipped the base Executive 42kWh variant of the Creta Electric quite well. So, if you are on a budget or don’t want to spend too much on the Creta Electric, you can go for the base variant.
With the smaller battery pack, the Premium 42kWh variant is the only one worth considering, as it offers all the features and is the most value-for-money Creta Electric variant.
However, we recommend that if you are purchasing the Creta Electric from a long-term perspective, you should go for its long-range version, which comes in two variants – Smart (O) and Excellence. Since there is a significant price difference between these two, and the Smart (O) 51.4kWh variant offers almost as much value as the Executive 42kWh variant but with more features and the bigger battery pack, it is our top recommended variant for the Creta Electric.
Apart from these variants, the Excellence 51.4kWh variant is better equipped and also offers great value for money, so you can consider upgrading to it.
What Are The Engine Specifications Of The Hyundai Creta Electric?
In terms of the specifications, the Creta Electric offers 2 battery configurations — Medium Range with 42kWh and Long Range with 51.4kWh. The 42kWh has an ARAI range of 390km while the LR offers 473km of range. Besides the longer range, the 51.4kWh battery pack also offers more power output.
The Creta Electric delivers the second best power output but comes short at range figures. The Curvv EV with 55kWh battery pack offers a far better range of 585km which costs less than Creta Electric.
