Sep 2024 - Hyundai Alcazar Facelift Diesel Variants Explained - Which One To Buy?
In this variant explained article, you'll find out which variant of the Hyundai Alcazar you should buy based on the ex-showroom prices, variant-wise features, ownership experience and value for money. Here we compare and objectively analyse the 2024 Alcazar's variants and their features to figure out which variant is worth buying for a good value for money and ownership experience. Then we will compare the engine specs, dimensions and mileage of the Hyundai Alcazar with its competitors and other C-segment SUVs like the MG Hector Plus, Mahindra Scorpio N and Mahindra XUV700.
Updated (Oct 1, 2024): This update of the 2024 Hyundai Alcazar diesel variants explained article includes the introductory launch prices. Our buying recommendation in this article is based on the value for money and ownership experience.
What Are The Pros And Cons Of 2024 Hyundai Alcazar?
The pros or advantages of Hyundai Alcazar are:
- Pretty good value pricing for the base model; top 2 variants also get incredible value pricing
- The base variant, considering the 3-row layout, diesel engine, SUV style and the asking price of (a shade) under Rs. 16.0 lakh (ex-sh) offers a very long list of features with only a touchscreen and steering-mounted controls missing
- The Alcazar 2024 doesn’t seem to miss out on any critical feature and the only feature you might miss in the 2024 Alcazar top model is a powered rear tailgate and native wireless infotainment connectivity
- Nifty features like wing rear headrests, adjustable under-thigh support and rear seat ventilation make it an amazing car for chauffeur-driven buyers who also want to take the wheel once in a while
- It gets class-leading features like 2nd row seat ventilation, front power seats with memory, 2-zone auto AC, full ADAS suite
- Distinct styling compared to the Creta facelift helps it stand out and define its own unique identity rather than just being called a 3-row version of the Creta diesel
- Wide sales/service network and strong brand recall help with ease of ownership and good resale in the used car market
The Hyundai Alcazar petrol has the following shortcomings or problems:
- Missing feature in top variant: powered tailgate
- Because of their fuel coupling, torque converter type automatics are guzzlers if you frequently use them in stop-and-go city traffic
- Captain chair option not available with petrol-manual powertrain and lower variants
- Automatic transmission option is only available in the top two variants
- Adaptive cruise control not available with manual transmission (the Honda City’s feature list confirms to us that it’s certainly possible to offer this feature with manual transmission as well)
What Is The Price Of 2024 Hyundai Alcazar Facelift Variants?
The 1.5L diesel engine comes with both the manual and automatic transmission options. The manual transmission option is available in 3 variants- Executive, Prestige and Platinum with the prices starting from Rs. 15.99 lakh. The automatic transmission is available with Platinum variant onwards. It carries a price tag of Rs. 20.91 lakh, which is Rs. 1.45 lakh more than the manual transmission.
With the 6-seat configuration, the Platinum variant costs Rs. 9,000 more than the comparable 7-seat version. However, the Alcazar top model with the captain’s chair costs Rs. 20,000 more than the bench layout.

Hyundai Alcazar Petrol Vs Diesel — Price Comparison
The Alcazar base model with petrol-manual powertrain carries a shocking price tag of just Rs. 14.99 lakh (ex-showroom). The diesel engine with the manual transmission costs Rs. 15.99 lakh, which is Rs. 1.0 lakh more. Hereafter, all petrol and diesel variants of the Alcazar cost the same. However, it’s worth noting that the higher petrol variants also get a panoramic sunroof and 2 LED reading lamps. A centre cabin lamp is impossible to install if you have a panoramic sunroof. The diesel variants don’t get a sunroof at all and get a single LED rear cabin lamp.

No Sunroof With Diesel Variants: Is It Smart Or Stupid?
We can’t say for sure. However, going by our experience so far, we can fairly confidently consolidate car buyers into 2 categories: those who buy a car but don’t use it much and those who buy a car to cover a crazy distance during the ownership.
The 2nd set of buyers are usually not as much concerned about the fancy features and prefer a more practical feature selection. They also prefer cars with lower running costs since they intend to munch miles with them. The diesel engine’s comparable torque output and insanely low fuel costs compared to the Alcazar with the turbo petrol engine makes tremendous sense for such buyers.
Using our V3Cars Fuel Cost Calculator, and assuming a realistic fuel efficiency of 10kmpl with Alcazar petrol and 15kmpl with Alcazar diesel, you can end up saving Rs. 3.60 lakh if you just end up driving the car for 1,00,000km. That’s what you can expect even a petrol car to cover during a 10-year ownership. If you factor in the higher usage of a diesel car, say 2,00,000km during the ownership, then the cost savings jump to about Rs. 7.0 lakh. If you’re expecting to save this much on fuel costs, then we’re sure that you can manage without a panoramic sunroof.
Hyundai Alcazar Executive - Base Model Price & Features
The base Executive variant of the Alcazar is available with the 1.5L diesel-manual powertrain and costs Rs. 15.99 lakh. Some of its notable features are:

In this variant, you may miss the following features:
- Touchscreen
- Steering-mounted controls
You will only need to install a music system, either from the dealership or an aftermarket shop. Besides a music system, you will also miss steering-mounted controls. However, we reached out to a dealership in NCR and the sales person confirmed to us that they can not only add the same touchscreen as the higher variants, but also install steering-mounted controls for an additional cost.
Other than that, the Alcazar diesel base model comes across as nicely loaded for a 3-row turbo petrol SUV car costing Rs. 16.0 lakh ex-showroom. It gets pretty much all must-have features along with a few good-to-have ones as well. This variant is suitable for budget-conscious buyers who want a 3-row SUV as it doesn’t compromise on must-have features.
If you are buying the Alcazar diesel for mostly rear seat usage or you are comfortable getting an aftermarket music system and don’t want to stretch your budget for good-to-have features, then the base Executive variant comes across as a fantastic choice for the asking price. Hence, this is our top recommendation for 2024 Alcazar diesel-manual buyers.
Hyundai Alcazar Executive vs Prestige Variant - Price & Features Comparison
The Prestige variant of the Alcazar is also available with the same powertrain options as the base Executive trim. The diesel-manual costs Rs. 17.18 lakh, which is Rs. 1.19 lakh more than the Executive trim.

With this variant, you get the following additional features:

In the Prestige variant of the Alcazar diesel, you may miss the following:
- Sunroof
- Wireless Android Auto
- Wireless Apple Carplay
Please note that these missing features are also applicable for all higher Alcazar diesel variants.
Because of the higher price of the Alcazar base diesel, the jump to the Prestige variant comes across as a little high. The lack of high-value features such as the sunroof also makes it difficult to cover up the price gap with features. However, barring the lack of a sunroof, the Alcazar’s Platinum variant seems to offer a decent feature distribution. Still, we won’t recommend it as the higher and suggest you to go with the base model and save some cash.
Hyundai Alcazar Prestige vs Platinum Variant - Price & Features Comparison
Next variant in line for the Alcazar is the Platinum, which is available with all the powertrain options. It costs Rs. 19.46 lakh (ex-showroom) with the manual transmission and is Rs. 2.28 lakh pricier than the lower Prestige variant.
The Platinum variant will cost you Rs. 20.91 lakh, which is Rs. 1.46 lakh more than the manual transmission.
Platinum variant onwards, you also get the option of 6-seat layout, which costs Rs. 9,000 more than the bench seat configuration, but it’s only available with the automatic transmission.

Even in the Platinum variant, you may miss a good-to-have feature like ventilated front seats. However, the addition of ADAS tech immensely improves its VFM score and makes it an easier recommendation over the lower variant. It can pay for itself even if it only manages to avoid or minimise damage in just one accident.
Especially for buyers interested in the 7-seat version, this is a good purchase. However, we strongly recommend upgrading to the Alcazar diesel top model with captain seats. Not only does the upgrade cost almost nothing, but it also adds some features, which will greatly enhance your ownership experience.
Hyundai Alcazar Platinum vs Signature Variant - Price & Features Comparison
The Alcazar top model also gets the option of 6-seat and 7-seat configuration but here, the premium for the 2nd row captain seats is higher at Rs. 20,000. This is to accommodate the 2nd row seat ventilation feature, which is exclusively available with the 6-seat layout only.
The Signature variant with 7-seat setup costs Rs. 21.20 lakh and with captain seats, it costs Rs. 21.40 lakh (ex-showroom). These prices are Rs. 29,000 to Rs. 40,000 more than the lower Platinum trim.

The Signature top model of the Hyundai Alcazar gets the following additional features:

|
|
|
|
For the asking price, the new Alcazar diesel top model feels complete with its set of features. You might only wish that it had a powered tailgate. Otherwise, it feels loaded in every regard.
Especially with the 6-seat version, the addition of 4 ventilated seats makes it worth a serious consideration as the price gap from the Platinum diesel variant is negligible. If you’re buying the top variant, we strongly advise you to skip the 7-seat version. Buy it with the automatic and captain chairs in the 2nd row to truly enjoy the rich interiors and high-tech features — barring a sunroof, of course.
Which Variant Of The Hyundai Alcazar Petrol Should You Buy?
For the Alcazar diesel-manual buyers, the base variant comes across as a good package as it doesn’t miss out on any critical feature besides a touchscreen and steering-mounted controls. All you need is a touchscreen music system and steering-mounted controls, and most dealerships will happily sell them to you for a relatively modest cost.
But, if you want more upmarket features, then you should skip the Prestige variant and jump straight to the Platinum. Not only does the Platinum diesel variant offer a good number of features (e.g. ADAS), but it also completely justifies the price premium over the Alcazar base diesel. If you can upgrade, then we strongly advioce you to buy the Alcazar top model (Signature) with the automatic transmission.

For Alcazar diesel-automatic buyers who are absolutely interested in the 7-seat layout, the Platinum variant seems like a good option. However, the upgrade to the Signature 6-seat comes highly recommended as it adds a lot of good-to-have features while offering better value for money as well. For all Alcazar diesel-automatic buyers, the top model with captain seats is our recommendation.

What Are The Engine Specifications Of The Hyundai Alcazar Petrol ?
Compared to other C-segment SUVs, Alcazar offers the lowest power and torque figures. Scorpio-N and XUV700 delivers the best performance in the segment. The Alcazar is behind in terms of performance but offers the best fuel efficiency figures with a smaller engine.

What Are The Dimensions Of The Hyundai Alcazar?
On the dimensions front, the Hyundai Alcazar sits towards the bottom because of its smaller size. Most of these cars offer 17-inch wheels in their lower trims and 18 inches in top model. The Carens is the only one to offer 16-inch among the C-segment SUVs.
In terms of ground clearance, Alcazar is the best in the segment.
When you look at the boot space, only the Hector Plus comes after the Alcazar in offering poor boot space, the Scorpio N leads with a 460 litres of storage capacity.
While we are on the topic of dimensions, the Alcazar and Carens stand out for offering very little of it. But they also cost a whole lot less; not only upfront, but also during ownership as they offer far superior real-world mileage compared to the larger and heavier Hector Plus, Scorpio N and XUV700 diesel.
