What Are The Pros And Cons Of 2025 Honda Amaze?

The pros or advantages of 2025 Honda Amaze are:

  • Refined engine that doesn’t protest even when revving hard
  • Option of a slick manual and a smooth CVT automatic in a segment with cheaper AMTs
  • Honda’s proven long-term reliability with this engine
  • The Amaze is not just the only car in its segment to offer ADAS tech, it’s also the most affordable to do so
  • Petrol automatic VX variant costs only Rs. 90,000 more over the manual and offers tremendous value for money

The 2025 Honda Amaze has the following shortcomings or problems:

  • High-revving engine has a low peak torque output coming at high RPMs, which affects drivability and fuel efficiency
  • Low torque output that too at high RPMs and a CVT automatic makes this car very dull to drive and you will have to adapt to its poor rolling acceleration and adopt a relaxed driving style, especially on single-lane highways
  • No cruise control in the VX variant considering an ex-showroom price of Rs. 9.10 lakh with the manual and Rs. 10.0 lakh with the automatic
  • Missing feature like front armrest, TPMS, rear window sunshades, front parking sensors
  • ADAS should have been standard or at least available in the VX variant without a price increase and that would have set the Amaze apart from the rest of the cars in the segment; since it’s a camera-based system, it is mostly software and doesn’t cost a lot to incorporate

What Is The Price Of 2025 Honda Amaze Variants?

The Amaze is now only available in 3 variants: V, VX and ZX and all of them get manual as well as automatic transmission options. The petrol-manual variants cost between Rs. 8.0 lakh and Rs. 9.70 lakh (ex-showroom). Meanwhile, the ex-showroom price of the new Amaze automatic variants starts from Rs. 9.20 lakh and goes up to Rs. 10.90 lakh.

The base variant seems to have several must-have features but you may miss the following notable features:

  • TPMS
  • Auto AC
  • Rear AC vents
  • Cruise control

Considering the asking price of this variant, it doesn’t get a few features we expect from a car at this price point. Still, the reason we would ask you to skip this variant has nothing to do with the V trim and more to do with the VX variant’s big leap in terms of the additional kit. The VX just packs a good number of high value features and remains our top pick. We strongly suggest you upgrade to the VX variant especially if you’re interested in the Amaze automatic.

2025 Honda Amaze V vs VX Variant — Price, Feature Comparison

The Amaze VX petrol-manual costs Rs. 9.10 lakh while the automatic costs Rs. 10.0 lakh. The VX petrol-manual costs Rs. 1.10 lakh more than the V manual but the VX automatic is  only Rs. 80,000 pricer than V automatic. To respect the psychological barrier of Rs. 10.0 lakh, the VX automatic only costs Rs. 90,000 more than the VX manual.

This variant misses out on the following features:

The VX misses out on some features but for the incremental cost over the base model, it offers insane value for money, especially with the automatic transmission. The VX is our top recommendation for all Amaze buyers even though it doesn't get some features we expect from a car at this price point.

New Honda Amaze VX vs ZX Variant — Price, Feature Comparison

The Amaze ZX also gets the same petrol-manual and petrol-automatic powertrain options and it costs Rs. 9.70 lakh and Rs. 10.90 lakh, respectively. The ZX manual is Rs. 60,000 pricier than the lower VX manual variant while the ZX automatic is Rs. 90,000 more expensive than the VX automatic.

You may miss the following features in the ZX variant:

Thankfully, all of these features are easy to install from the aftermarket and Honda themselves are offering some of these in their official accessory catalogue.

The rest of the package makes tremendous sense from a value for money angle because of the inclusion of ADAS tech, which helps prevent or at least minimise the injury in unavoidable crashes. However, if you don’t mind living without the ADAS tech, then the lower VX variant offers phenomenal value for money and remains our top pick. Still, the ZX is a good option to consider. It just pales in comparison to the VX in terms of value for money, especially for Amaze automatic buyers.

Which Variant Of The Honda Amaze Petrol Should You Buy?

Honda are not offering a stripped-down variant in the Amaze, and we really appreciate this approach. Moreover, none of the Amaze variants are randomly overpriced, so technically, you can choose any variant based on your needs and budget. However, the VX variant offers the best value among all, making it our top recommendation. Only stretch your budget for the ZX variant if the ADAS tech is extremely important to you. Otherwise, the VX is the best option.

In the case of the automatic transmission, the VX variant is even more appealing because Honda have priced it at Rs. 10.0 lakh. We believe you should take advantage of this pricing. The automatic transmission, in this case, only costs Rs. 80,000 over the manual. So, for the automatic transmission, the VX variant is an easy recommendation.

What Are The Engine Specifications Of The Honda Amaze Petrol?

The Honda Amaze now has the most powerful engine in the small sedan segment but its torque output is the lowest. Moreover, this torque peaks at a fairly high 4800rpm. This makes it a poor choice if you value the ease of driving it in everyday traffic situations. You WILL have to shift one or two gears down to get the acceleration for a quick overtake. But if you are interested in the automatic, you WILL have to adopt a relaxed driving style. CVTs are the smoothest among automatics but they aren’t good for enthusiastic driving or making quick overtakes. If you prefer to take the back seat, then this is the best powertrain combination as none of the other small sedans offer a smooth and premium automatic transmission option.

What Are The Dimensions Of The Honda Amaze?

The 2025 Honda Amaze remains more or less the same as before. The most important change here is that it has gotten a fair bit wider now.
