What Are The Pros And Cons Of The 2024 Tata Nexon EV?
The pros or advantages of Tata Nexon EV 2024 are:
- Surprisingly decent km-to-breakeven figures over Nexon petrol-DCT and diesel-AMT variants with domestic electricity charging
- Fresh and stylish exterior and interior design
- 5-star safety rating
- Good ARAI range figures from large battery packs
- Quite feature loaded
- Reasonable price premium for the long range variants over the comparable medium range variants considering better range and features
The 2024 Tata Nexon EV has the following shortcomings or problems:
- Extremely poor feature distribution; front armrest only available in Fearless Plus and higher variants; rear armrest only available top variant
- Poorly equipped base variant doesn’t get rear parcel tray, rear defogger, split rear seats, rear armrest, split rear seatbacks and projector headlamps
- Unless you have space for EV charging, you may not save much with high public charging cost, which is likely to cost even more in coming years; thus, you should not consider buying the Nexon EV primarily to save on fuel cost
- Top variant, with Rs. 19.29 lakh ex-showroom price, is terribly under-equipped for a car with such a price tag as it doesn’t get any ADAS features and panoramic sunroof
- Falling prices of EVs due to lower input costs and competition may result in higher depreciation during the ownership
What Is The Price Of Tata Nexon EV Variants?
The Tata Nexon EV is available in 6 variants — Creative Plus, Fearless, Fearless Plus, Fearless Plus S, Empowered and Empowered Plus with primarily 2 options similar to powertrain options in a typical engine car:
- Medium range with a 3.3kW AC charger: The medium range with 3.3kW AC charger costs between Rs. 14.49 lakh and Rs. 17.49 lakh.
- Long range with a 7.2kW AC charger: The prices of the long range with 7.2kW AC fast charger start from Rs. 15.99 lakh and go up to Rs. 19.29 lakh. Except for the Creative Plus and Empowered, this powertrain option is available in all variants. The long range with 7.2kW AC fast charger option costs Rs. 1.0 lakh more than the comparable medium range variant with a 3.3kW AC charger.
Regardless of which home charger you get, all variants are compatible with CCS2 port for DC fast charging with speeds of up to 50kW. Meanwhile, the Type-2 charging gun at public charging stations is also compatible for AC charging at slower charging speeds.

While the base model of the Nexon EV gets a decent number of features, the next Fearless MR justifies the upgrade cost and covers the basics quite well. So, we’ll suggest you upgrade to the Fearless MR if you’re interested in the MR powertrain of the Nexon EV.
2024 Tata Nexon EV Creative Plus vs Fearless Variant - Price, Feature Comparison
The higher Fearless variant onwards, you also have the option of buying the Nexon EV with the larger 40.5kWh battery pack and it costs Rs. 15.99 lakh, which is Rs. 1.50 lakh more than the base trim.

- Front armrest
- Rear armrest
- 60-40 split folding rear seatbacks
- Wireless phone charger
- Cruise control
- Ventilated front seats
- 360-degree camera
For Nexon EV MR buyers, this variant is worth considering if you don’t want to stretch your budget any further. It gets most of the must-have features we expect from a car at this price point, although the price jump is a little steep at Rs. 1.50 lakh.
For Nexon EV LR buyers, the Fearless LR variant is worth considering. However, the upgrade to the next LR variant is only Rs. 50,000 and it mostly justifies that cost with the additional features.
Tata Nexon EV Fearless vs Fearless Plus Variant - Price, Feature Comparison
With the Fearless Plus variant, you will get the same battery-range combinations as the lower Fearless variant. The Nexon EV Fearless Plus variant costs Rs. 16.49 lakh with the smaller battery pack and Rs. 17.49 lakh with the larger pack. This variant is Rs. 50,000 pricier than the Fearless medium range while the Fearless Plus long range variant with 7.2kW AC fast charger costs another Rs. 1.0 lakh over the Fearless Plus medium range.

In the Fearless Plus variant of the Nexon EV, you may miss feature like:
- Front parking sensors
- Rear armrest
- 60-40 split folding rear seatbacks
- Ventilated front seats
- 360-degree camera
- Sunroof
For Nexon EV MR buyers, the Fearless Plus is only a short Rs. 50,000 price jump away, but it doesn’t add enough must-have features to warrant an upgrade. Moreover, the Fearless MR will still feel like an incomplete package because of the lack of some features. So, Nexon EV MR buyers should go all out and buy the Empowered variant or save the cash and choose the lower Fearless MR variant.
For the Nexon EV LR buyers, though, the upgrade comes without a notable sacrifice in value while adding a few must-have features we expect from a car at this price point. So, the Fearless Plus LR is our top recommendation for the Nexon EV LR buyers.
Tata Nexon Fearless Plus vs Fearless Plus S Variant - Price, Feature Comparison
The higher Fearless Plus S variant of the Nexon EV also gets the 2 battery-range combinations like the lower Fearless Plus variant. The Fearless Plus S medium range is priced at Rs. 16.99 lakh, while the long range version’s price is Rs. 17.99 lakh which is Rs. 1.0 lakh more expensive than the medium range version. These prices are exactly Rs. 50,000 higher than the lower Fearless Plus variant of the Nexon EV.

- Front parking sensors
- Rear armrest
- 60-40 split folding rear seatbacks
- Ventilated front seats
- 360-degree camera
Just like the Fearless Plus MR, the Fearless Plus S MR is also worth considering but we will advise you to spend a bit more and choose the top model. Similarly, the Fearless Plus S LR is also worth considering, although it comes with a some drop in VFM %.
Tata Nexon EV Fearless Plus S vs Empowered Variant - Price, Feature Comparison
The higher Empowered variant of the Nexon EV only comes with the medium range option and costs Rs. 17.49 lakh. The Empowered medium range version’s prices are Rs. 50,000 higher than the lower Fearless Plus S.

In the Nexon EV MR top model, you may miss ADAS features and a panoramic sunroof. Petrol/diesel cars around this price point offer these features. Still, the Empowered variant of the Nexon EV MR gets our top recommendation for its superior value for money quotient over other Medium Range variants.
Tata Nexon Empowered vs Empowered Plus Variant - Price, Feature Comparison
The Empowered Plus top model of the Tata Nexon EV only gets the larger battery with longer range combination. The Nexon EV’s Empowered Plus Long Range 7.2kW variant costs Rs. 19.29 lakh, which is Rs. 1.80 lakh costlier than the lower Empowered Medium Range variant.

The Nexon EV’s top model gets the following notable additional features over the Empowered trim:

In the Nexon EV LR top model, you may miss ADAS features and a panoramic sunroof. For a car costing more than Rs. 19.0 lakh (ex-showroom), these features are almost must-have. This variant too is worth considering although it offers the worst VFM compared to the other Long Range variants.
Which Variant Of The Tata Nexon EV Should You Buy?
First, you need to decide if you want the Medium Range or Long Range version of the Nexon EV. Medium range buyers should prioritise features while the Long Range buyers should prioritise the driving range. With that little detail out of the way, we can happily recommend the Empowered MR or the Fearless Plus LR variant.

Between the two, you can choose the Empowered MR variant if you value features and don’t intend to drive the car much between charging sessions. For buyers who want to prioritise range over features, the Fearless Plus LR makes more sense at Rs. 17.49 lakh.

What Are The Engine Specifications Of The Tata Nexon EV?
In terms of the specifications, the Nexon EV offers 2 battery configurations — Medium Range with 30kWh and Long Range with 40.5kWh. The MR has an ARAI range of 325km while the LR offers 465km of range. Besides the longer range, the LR also offers better power output and a faster AC charger.
It’s worth noting that Tata’s EVs don’t even come close to the claimed range. During our testing, the Nexon EV Long Range continued to deliver almost 30% lower than the ARAI range even with our best hypermiling efforts. With this estimate, you should expect the Nexon EV MR and LR to deliver as much as 230km and about 330km, respectively.
